08/29/2010 Chosen for the Good Life Blake Jennings 1 Peter 1:1-2
Notes Slides Series: The_Good_Life
What is 'the good life?' We all want it, but how do we get it? In the book of 1 Peter, the Author of life tells us, quite simply, that the good life is the imitation of Jesus Christ. No one has ever lived a better life than He did; so the closer we follow Him, the more we experience the good life. And that life begins with the election of God, Peter's focus in the theologically packed introduction to this book.

08/29/2010 Chosen for the Good Life Brian Fisher 1 Peter 1:1-2
Notes Slides Series: The_Good_Life
What is the 'good life'? Everyone has some idea of what it is, and everyone is looking for it. But if we ask the Author of life, He will tell us, quite simply, that the good life is the imitation of Christ. No one has ever lived better than Jesus. No one has experienced more joy and peace and fulfillment, even alongside of rejection and suffering, than Jesus Christ. Imitate Him, and you will find the best that life has to offer.

08/22/2010 Habakkuk: Hero of Faith Blake Jennings Habakkuk
Notes Slides Series: Unlikely_Heroes
Life is difficult and often painful. In the midst of that pain, you can either rely upon yourself to make it through, trusting in your money, strength, connections, intellect, or entertainment to make life work, or you can rely upon God in faith, trusting that He will get you through the pain. One option works and brings God's blessing into your life. The other doesn't, and brings you only His judgment.

David confesses his sin and experiences God's forgiveness (Psalm 32, 51) but experiences several painful consequences in his family as the result of his sin.

The book of Jonah is really not about Jonah, nor is it about the Ninevites. It's primarily about God, about His character, and especially about His limitless grace. That grace is on full display in the third chapter as God, in grace, restores His repentant prophet and uses him to bring grace to a people of unparalleled violence. And if God's grace can lift up a man as stubborn as Jonah and reach a people as wicked as Nineveh, then it can reach and transform every one of us!
